The International Arboriculture Summit, Hong Kong will take place November 20-22, 2009. The summit will feature some of the leading experts in tree assessment and preservation.
The summit is designed for arborists, landscape architects, urban designers, nurserymen, city planners and engineers, landscape installers, urban foresters, property managers,dDevelopment firms, parks officials, campus managers, golf course managers, conservationists and anyone interested in the safety and preservation of trees.
The seminar will cover the fundamentals of tree risk assessment including an in-depth workshop on the book A Photographic Guide to the Evaluation of Hazard Trees in Urban Areas with authors James Clark and Nelda Matheny. It will also include workshops on methods of tree assessment using high level instruments such as the Resistograph with Frank Rinn and the “Elasto-inclino” method, also known as the “Pull test”, used to measure the effects of wind loading on trees with Andreas Detter.
In addition to methods of tree risk assessment, speakers will discuss the difficulties and uncertainty of measuring risk.
