Horticultural Asset Management, Inc. (HMI) announced that its network of professional tree care companies and certified arborists has grown to include more than 2,000 fully equipped tree crews and approximately 1,200 certified arborists, making it the largest nationwide provider of tree services.

(HMI) announced that HMI’s network of professional tree care companies and certified arborists has grown to include more than 2,000 fully equipped tree crews and approximately 1,200 certified arborists, making it the largest nationwide provider of tree services.


HMI provides adjusters, insurers, property owners and others with emergency tree work, inspections, cause of loss opinions, replacement cost calculations and a full suite of claims support services for tree damage and landscape loss. HMI is operational in the 48 lower states, and each of its network members are experienced tree experts, fully licensed and insured as well as professionally trained in safety, tree risk management and heavy equipment operation.


“We are privileged to be working with the leading tree care professionals in the industry,” said Malawsky. “Our ability to provide emergency response to almost anywhere in the US while standardizing service levels and ensuring quality control and fair pricing practices is changing the face of the tree care industry. Following such events as hurricanes Katrina, Andrew and Ivan, thousands of tree care companies were set up overnight by opportunistic and unprofessional individuals many of whom are uninsured and inexperienced. These companies can offer low-bids but they also provide low quality work that can result in increased Loss Adjusting Expenses at best or in the worst case someone is hurt or killed on the job creating huge liability for homeowners and insurers alike.”


HMI has extensive experience working through its network of tree care experts to provide its insurance clients with the highest level of support for a wide range of tree-related claim services. HMI’s centralized administration capabilities, proprietary data base of plant replacement costs and extensive experience working with the insurance industry, allows it to offer a valuable service that has benefited over 30 major insurers and their clientele.

Recent catastrophe events that HMI has handled for its insurance clientele include: HMI staged tree crews to support losses in Houston following Hurricane Ike, and for the two week period following Ike HMI’s crews provided emergency tree removals on an exclusive basis for five major insurers; HMI sent crews to Kentucky following the ice storm in early 2009; HMI sent crews to support its clients in Santa Barbara following the Tea Fires; and HMI supported adjusters throughout the state of Florida during Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Hanna, blanketing the state with tree crews for rapid response.
