The ISA Annual International Conference and Trade Show is quickly approaching. ISA issued the following reminders for those attending the show:
Onsite Registration Desk
Attendees will be required to wear name badges to ISA functions. Badges should be picked up from the Onsite Registration Desk located in Oregon Convention Center Prefunction Lobby C. The desk hours are:
Friday, August 10, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday, August 11, 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday, August 12, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Monday, August 13, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Tuesday, August 14, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Wednesday, August 15, 7 a.m. –Noon
Tickets for additional Conference events will only be available for purchase during the Onsite Registration Desk hours.
Arrive early to make sure you have a seat at the educational sessions of your choice. Standing in the back of an educational session room is not allowed at the Oregon Convention Center.
Coffee and Networking will be held from 7:30 am – 8:00 am Monday – Wednesday in the lobby area outside the session rooms (Monday & Tuesday in the Oregon Ballroom Lobby and Wednesday in Prefunction Lobby C).
Events at Laurelhurst Park
ISA is providing a free shuttle, no name badge required, to the events at Laurelhurst Park on Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle will depart from the Oregon Convention Center bus zone on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, on the hour and 30-minutes past the hour from 6:00 am – 3:00 pm both days.
Return trips from Laurelhurst Park to the Oregon Convention Center will run on the hour and 30-minutes past the hour from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm both days.
Plan to attend the International Tree Climbing Championship, Arbor Fair, Arbor Market and all of the activities being held at Laurelhurst Park. Events at Laurelhurst Park are free and open to the public. Food carts will be onsite that may only accept cash payments. There is not an ATM at the park.
Tree Academy Workshops
All Tree Academy Workshops will begin at the Oregon Convention Center. Be sure you visit the Onsite Registration Desk prior to the start time of your event to pick up your registration materials. A name badge and workshop ticket will be required for admission to workshop sessions. All Sunday workshops are sold out. A few seats remain for some of the Saturday sessions.
If you are attending one of the all-day Saturday workshops, please arrive early. Coffee and water will be available for you to take with you to the event. Transportation for both events departs promptly at 8:15, so plan on arriving at the convention center early enough to pick up your registration packet, grab a beverage, and be ready to depart at 8:15.
Pacific Northwest Chapter volunteers are leading the effort to make the 2012 ISA Conference a Zero Waste event. You can help by:
Using the recycling and compost bins provided instead of throwing items in the trash.
Bringing your own re-usable water bottle and filling it at the stations provided at the Oregon Convention Center and Laurelhurst Park.
Encouraging others to practice sustainability.
Portland Transportation Information
The least expensive way for attendees to arrive from the airport is by using Portland’s light rail system. Once you have purchased a light rail ticket to ride from the airport to your destination, make sure you validate the ticket before boarding the train.
Once you have arrived in the Convention Center area, it is free to ride the light rail between the ISA conference hotels and the Oregon Convention Center.

Limited parking is available at the conference hotels and ranges from $9 to more than $20 per day. Parking is available at the Oregon Convention Center during the day, but overnight parking is prohibited.
Please respect the educational environment for all attendees by turning cellular phones to vibrate or silent at Conference functions.
A schedule of events is available on the ISA website and in the Proceeding Book that will be distributed in Conference bags. Onsite schedule changes will be posted on the information board located in Prefunction Lobby C near Registration and the Educational Posters.
