ISA Member nominations are currently being accepted for three ISA Board positions for the new term beginning August 2013. If you or someone you know is a prime candidate for providing leadership and strategic management to the ISA organization, submit your nomination by January 16, 2013.
The ISA Board of Directors consists of a president, a president-elect, and 13 directors. Of these 13 directors, five must be nominated and voted on by the Council of Representatives and eight must be nominated and voted on by the ISA membership-at-large.
For the upcoming term, five positions will become open on the current Board, and the Nominating and Elections Committee is seeking to fill these five positions. Three of these positions will be filled by individuals nominated and elected by the ISA membership. The other two positions will be filled by individuals nominated and elected by the ISA Council of Representatives.
This announcement is to solicit nominees for the three Board positions from the general ISA membership.
If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else as a candidate for the ISA Board of Directors and fit the criteria outlined below, send the name and contact information to Jerri Moorman at ISA Headquarters (firstname.lastname@example.org). The person you nominate must be a current member of ISA. Once nominated, the nominee will be asked if they accept or decline the nomination. If they accept, they will be sent documentation related to the position and will be asked to submit a biography/resume and respond to a few questions concerning their interest in the position.
The three Board positions to be voted on by ISA’s membership-at-large are currently filled by Francesco Ferrini, Ward Peterson, and Michael Marshall. These three directors will automatically be nominated for the upcoming election because they are all eligible to serve a second term. However, they are still required to be vetted by the Nominating and Elections Committee, just as new nominees will be. The final ballot will include only nominees who have successfully passed the vetting process.
Criteria for nominees to be considered are:
1. Demonstrated positive leadership skills, professionally or as a volunteer
2. Professional objectivity and the ability to think strategically
3. Demonstrated interest in a broad range of arboricultural issues
4. ISA Board or equivalent experience and contribution
5. Demonstrated organizational support (can commit to doing the job given the time and travel commitments)
6. Demonstrated management skills
Nominations must be sent to Jerri Moorman, Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, by 4:30pm Central Standard Time on January 16, 2013. For more information, contact Jerri Moorman at email@example.com or phone her at (217) 531-2835.
