The Nebraska Nursery and Landscape Association and the Nebraska Arborists Association are once again teaming up to host the 2015 Nebraska GREAT PLAINS Conference Jan. 20 and 21 at the Ramada Plaza in Omaha, Nebraska. The conference will kick off on Tuesday, Jan. 20, with keynote speaker Howard Eyre, assistant professor for the Department of Landscape Architecture & Environmental Science at Delaware Valley College. Eyre will present on management considerations for environmental stress. Following Eyre’s presentation, Julie Van Meter, entomology program manager/state entomologist for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture, and Laurie Stepanek, forest health specialist with the Nebraska Forest Service, will provide an update on Emerald Ash Borer and the science behind Nebraska’s recommendations. After a full day of sessions, Tuesday will close out with the popular silent and live auctions.
Wednesday will start off with keynote speaker, Judy Guido, chairwoman and founder of Guido & Associates. Judy will present on industry trends that will generate profitable growth in the morning and building and managing a profitable sales team in the afternoon. Wednesday afternoon will also feature Kevin LaPointe, city forester for the City of Kansas City, Missouri, who will speak on his experience with EAB and the plan of action they took to reduce the impact. Following LaPointe’s presentation, attendees will be able to participate in roundtable discussions to talk about some of the hottest topics in the industry.
The conference offers a two-day trade show featuring all of the latest products, services and equipment.
