Bayer CropScience adds industry experts to vegetation management business

Environmental Science, a division of Bayer CropScience LP, announced the addition of Jonathan Smith and Tom Dinn to its vegetation management (VM) business team. In their new roles as new market development manager and new area sales manager, respectively, Smith and Dinn will help Bayer expand its ability to deliver best-in-class VM solutions to customers and markets across the country.

There’s tremendous opportunity for our business, and Jonathan and Tom will be a part of realizing those opportunities in critical new markets.”

As new market development manager, Smith is expected to drive significant growth for Bayer vegetation management products across Range and Pasture (R&P), forestry and IVM markets. No stranger to the industry, Smith brings more than 20 years of forestry, IVM, right of way, turf and ornamental (T&O) and agricultural marketplace experience to the team. Previously at BASF since 2001, Smith worked on Turf and Ornamental account management and marketing for the ProVM business before his most recent appointment as Innovation Specialist.

A Mississippi State University alumnus, Smith holds a master’s degree in Agricultural Information Science and a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Extension Educational and Experimental Statistics with a specialty in forestry management. He currently resides in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Joining the team as new area sales manager, Tom Dinn brings over 15 years of sales experience coming from a territory sales manager position at NuFarm where he served as the R&P specialist for Texas and the Southwest. Dinn began his career in 1999 at Monsanto, where he implemented field trials and facilitated training sessions for VM products in the marketing and sales department.

Dinn will be covering Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, where he will focus on increasing support to Bayer customers in this region through end user contacts, distribution relationships and product stewardship.

Dinn received his Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness with a focus on ranch and livestock management from Arizona State University. He currently resides in the Phoenix area.
