ArborMaster updates its 2016 open-enrollment hands-on training modules

ArborMaaster updated its 2016 open-enrollment hands-on training module schedule, and has added another course for November in Connecticut. Details are as follows:

 

L1 ArborMaster L1 Precision Tree Felling & Chain Saw Safety & Handling

2-Day Module – No pre-requisites

Course Description: The participants will be educated in modern felling techniques; and learn a systematic method to plan the operation and skillfully work the plan. Practices based on leverage, mechanical advantage, and ergonomics, as they relate to precision felling and chainsaw handling, will be taught, demonstrated, and experienced. Students will be trained in practical exercises to develop skills and measure results. This course will teach how planning, skill development, and preventative maintenance equal increased safety and productivity.

 

L1 Precision Tree Felling, Chain Saw Safety & Handling & Chipper Operations:

3-Day Module – No pre-requisites

Course Description
The participants will be educated and train in modern tree felling techniques; and learn a systematic method to plan the operation and skillfully work the plan. Methods that maximize use of leverage, mechanical advantage, and ergonomics, as they relate to precision tree felling and chainsaw handling, will be taught, demonstrated, and practiced. Chipper safety, operator inspections, proper starting & shut down, brush and wood feeding, PPE. Students will train in practical exercises to develop skills and measure results. This course will teach how planning, skill development, and preventative maintenance equal increased safety, skill and productivity.

 

L1 ArborMaster L1 Tree Climbing Methods, Work Positioning & Best Practice:

3-Day Module – No pre-requisites

Course Description

The participants will be educated and trained in modern tree climbing systems; and learn about the tools and techniques that make tree climbing and work positioning safer, easier, and more efficient. Basic concepts of physics and mechanical advantage will be introduced as they relate to climbing systems. This course will also introduce participants to work positioning best practice with hand saws & chain saws emphasizing safety, skill and productivity; through both theoretical and practical learning activities.

 

L1 Arborist Rigging Applications

2 Day – Pre-requisites:

  • L1 Tree Climbing Methods & Best Practice
  • L1 Precision Felling, Chainsaw Handling, Safety, and Ergonomics

 

Course Description

The participants will be educated in modern arborist rigging applications; and learn about the tools and techniques that make rigging safer, easier, and more efficient. Basic concepts of physics, system dynamics, force management, and factors of safety will be introduced as they relate to rigging systems. This course emphasizes safety, skill development, and productivity; and consists of both theoretical and practical learning activities. 

 

L1 Aerial Lift Arborist Rigging Applications:

2-Day Module -Pre-requisite:

  • Aerial Lift Operations Module (or signed waiver)
  • L1 Precision Tree Felling module

Course Description

This course is for arborists who do not climb and will be working in an aerial position from an aerial lift device.

Traditional as well as new energy efficient, low impact, methods of rigging are taught. Emphasis is placed on the most productive tools and techniques in order to reduce the risk of accidents. Discover and learn to manage the forces involved in rigging operations.

 

The Art & Science of Practical Rigging: 4 Day Comprehensive Arborist Rigging Program

4 day – Prerequisites:

  • L1 Tree Climbing Methods & Best Practice
  • L1 Precision Tree Felling, Chainsaw Handling, Safety & Ergonomics

Course Description

The participants will learn modern arborist rigging methods and train in small working groups. The principles of rigging system dynamics, force management, design factors, and working load limits will be taught, examined and employed in practical rigging exercises. Safety, skill and productivity will be emphasized while planning the work and working the plan. Critical thinking and decision making skills will be enhanced as participants employ best work practices connect rigging techniques with rigging technologies and practice the art & science of practical rigging in challenging field exercises.
