City of Laguna Woods first city to require CTSP for municipal work

According to the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), the City of Laguna Woods, Calif., is the first municipality to require that the companies in contention for their tree work contracts have a Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) on staff.

In its RFP (request for proposals), the city requires that the CTSP conduct regular site-specific safety meetings, as well as oversee any incident investigation, which would involve the submission of a report, detailing the root causes of any incident and follow-up mitigation actions for the company completing the work.
